These small fish are native to rivers, streams, ponds and lakes in West Asia. They are also known as “Nibble Fish” or “Doctor Fish” as they have been used in spa treatments across Europe & Asia. They are becoming rare in the wild due to overfishing and habitat degradation.
Our “romp” of 6 Asian Small Clawed otters will entertain you with their mischievous antics. These otters are very social, intelligent and vocal, and you’ll very often see them with toys and other fun objects; they love to play! An educational talk led by one of our animal care staff members takes place Friday - Sunday at 12:00 pm at this exhibit.
Reach in and touch our 4 species of rays. Cow Nose Rays, Atlantic Stingrays, Yellow Stingrays and Atlantic Guitarfish glide along the bed of the tide pool, and you can even feed them snacks as they swim by! An educational talk led by one of our animal care staff members takes place at 1:00 pm Friday - Sunday at this exhibit.
White Spotted Bamboo Sharks, Brown Banded Bamboo Sharks, Epaulette Sharks and Coral Catsharks are the friendly kind! You may see them "walk" across the bottom on their fins! An educational talk about sharks led by one of our animal care staff members occurs Friday - Sunday at 2:00pm at this exhibit.
